What is Reiki?

Rei-Ki (Ray-Key) is a natural healing involving laying on of the hands & is many thousands of years old, the energy comes from the divine light, through the crown chakra, heart chakra & into the small chakras on your palm. This technique is 2500 years old & originally came from the Mu people, passed to Tibetan Buddhist Monks & then rediscovered in the 1800’s by Mikao Usui. The system is a very power technique of healing.

The words ‘Rei’ & ‘Ki’ have originated from ‘Raku-Kei’ & are from a Japanese Language. Raku is the vertical energy flow & Kei is the horizontal energy flow through the body. It is an art of self-improvement used by the ancient Tibetan Lamas dating back thousands of years. The modern interpretation, the Rei-Ki is written in Japanese as;

Rei – Spiritual Wisdom

‘Rei’ means ‘Universal’ & is a very general definition as Japanese Ideograms of ‘Kanjo’ have several levels of meaning & interpretation from the mundane to the esoteric. It is accepted that the meaning is more accurately interpreted by Reiki Practitioners as the Higher Spiritual Consciousness or All Knowing & All Pervading God Force that understands the root cause & therefore cures all problems & difficulties.

Ki – Life Force

Ki or Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit, is the vital Life-Force energy that flows through all living things the Aura. It has been identified by all cultures & consequently has a variety of names. Ki surrounds & animates all life & is the primary source of our thoughts, emotions & spiritual existence, our D.N.A.

Martial artists use Chi in physical & mental development. Shamans, past & present has used the same energy for spiritual development & awareness as well as healing & manifestation of Chi is employed by all healings, regardless of the discipline. It is the non-physical energy that can be accumulated by the body & guided by the will. Reiki is different from other systems in that the initiations are an ancient process of tuning the healer’s body, both physical & esthetic, to a higher vibration allowing a clear channel for the energy to flow. Once this channel is opened it will remain open for the rest of the healer’s life. Therefore Reiki can be defined as the spiritually guided Universal Life Force. This is the most accepted interpretation of the word & sums up the experience most people have of the energy of Reiki Healing moving through the healer’s body & dispels blocks & negativity before being channelled through to the recipient, thus never draining the healer. In fact the more a Reiki Practitioner gives of the energy the more that it is received.

All Healers use the Life Force, not all use Reiki, Reiki works on a different vibration level, it is possible that some healers are born with the correct attunement having already taken place, but in practice it will need a Reiki Master to attune the individual to the energy. It is widely accepted that Reiki not only complements other therapies but can actively increases the strength of those healing energies by upto fifty percent.

Reiki Treatments are given by the practitioners by placing their hands on a number of easily learnt positions on the recipients body & allowing the free flow of the Reiki energy to pass through. Reiki has a way of naturally flowing to the area where it is most needed & therefore no direction from the practitioner is necessary for the energy to work. This means of course that every Reiki treatment is different & persons receiving the treatment will report differing affects such as increased warmth, or cold or a tingling sensation. Whatever the individuals experience the general beneficial effect of the treatment is the same with the recipient receiving the correct amount of energy to bring about the necessary changes to restore balance within.

As the flow of Reiki energy begins to be used by the Practitioner, so the inevitable refining of the individual’s own spiritual self takes place, thus creating change, dispelling negative belief’s & attitudes, & promoting a greater feeling of wellbeing. The practitioner can then access the strength to take full responsibility for there future development & conscious understanding of the changing world Reiki is truly the most important energy for Man’s future progression towards the new millennium & the transformation of the world’s energy.
